Create your own stitched pixel art!

Join amazing cross stitch wiz Rebecca Healy and learn about graphgans!

Using the concept of pixel art with grid paper, you will be creating your own pixel art design using graph paper. We will look at how to use grids to create designs from existing images.
We will also look at how a pixel art design can be used across a range of different media. You will learn basic crochet techniques and stitches to transform your pixel art design into a graphgan.

Rebecca Healy has been using grid paper to create cross stitch designs since she was in primary school.

She says “I really like the structure and boundlessness of graph/grid paper. I have been using grid paper to create cross stitch designs since I was in primary school. Growing up with early video games systems I was fascinated with the blockiness of computer graphics and the simplicity of basic drawing tools like MS paint. I have also liked finding ways to create designs without the use of a lot of technology.

In the past 11 years I have taken up crochet since having being taught the basics when I was younger. I have used YouTube to reteach myself a lot of these basic crochet techniques. I have also used sites like stitch fiddle to create my own designs, however I am always drawn back to the calming simplicity of coloured pens and grid paper”
